ABOUT
The Atlanta City Studio is a pop-up urban design studio within the City of Atlanta Department of City Planning and is managed by the Department’s Office of Design, which includes the City’s Planning, Public Space, and Historic Preservation teams. The Studio’s mission is to provide leadership in the planning and design of our city with the goal of creating an exceptional public realm and, ultimately, a city that all Atlantans can be proud of. The Studio accomplishes this through project-specific design leadership and collaboration, educational programming, and inclusive community engagement. Atlanta City Studio moves to different locations throughout the city, making its work as publicly accessible as possible, allowing residents to play an integral role in the design of our city.
The Office of Design of the Department of City Planning provide leadership for the physical design of the City through the work of its three studios: Planning, Public Space, and Historic Preservation Studio. Our work includes the design of physical plans for the logical organization of our future city, creation of vibrant public spaces that cultivate public life, and architectural guidance, including preservation of high-quality buildings that contribute to a cohesive public realm. This work is framed by Atlanta City Design and driven by the desire to design a city for everyone in the most inclusive way possible. Browse through each studio below to read about our projects.

Directions, MARTA & Parking
From Georgia State Station Atlanta City Hall is near the Georgia State MARTA Station. From Georgia State, exit the station on the Piedmont Ave side, then turn left towards the Georgia State Capitol. Turn right on MLK Jr. Dr. and then left to go two blocks down Washington St. Turn right at Trinity Ave, and the Atlanta City Hall entrance is on the right.
From Garnett Station From Garnett Station, exit the station on the Trinity Ave side. Cross the plaza, then right onto Trinity Ave and walk for three blocks. The Atlanta City Hall entrance is on the right.

OUR SPACE
Our space is designed to celebrate and build momentum for design excellence in our city. That means embedding ourselves in neighborhoods, where Atlantans live. The Studio moves to different locations within the City to learn from, partner with, and educate a new community. We are currently located in Downtown Atlanta at the Atlanta City Hall.

Ponce City Market, 2016-2017
South Broad Street, 2019-2022
Our third location on Broad Street was strategically located in South Downtown for the Studio to play a key role in the development and growth happening Downtown.
2 Peachtree Street, 2025 - 2026
Our fifth location on at 2 Peachtree Street further extended our commitment to South Downtown’s growth.
Cascade Heights, 2017-2019
The Sylvan Building Historic Hotel Row, 2023-2025
Our fourth location on Mitchell Street’s historic Hotel Row provided a base for the greater DCP Office of Design and extend our commitment to South Downtown’s growth.
